how..button quail/hatching???? proffesional please?
I’m getting a shipment of an incubator and 4 quail eggs(fertile of course), i would like to know how to turn the eggs, once i get the eggs do i put them in the incubator or wait a while? Do i feed and water them the first day/hatching time, When they get older what can i house them in ? any additional info would be great.
Honestly the best way to turn them is to gently place your palm on top and rotate either clockwise or counter clockwise.
It’s not essential that side A gets 30 minutes, then side B, then side C, then side D.
The rotation is simply to make sure the embryo doesn’t “stick” in one spot for two long.
With button quail you can get away with doing this about 6 times a day (evenly spaced); so roughly, 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm, 11pm
You do not need to provide food/water for the first 24 hours.
They will be absorbing the remnants of their yolk sac and resting during this time. Hatching is an EXTREMELY tiring thing 
When they are older, you can house them in a small aviary (30-36″ long by atleast 36″ high; as they tend to go straight UP when they are startled and anything smaller could result in a nasty head injury).
PS: If the incubator you are getting is the little mini incubator that is yellow on the bottom (plastic) and clear plastic on the top.. don’t have high expectations. The temperature is extremely hard to control in these as well as the humidity.
The very first incubator I tried was one of these – and it basically just hard cooked the eggs.
You’re better to invest a good $60 or so bucks into a Hova-Bator model.
